Starbucks Mobile Card – Free on the iTunes App Store

This App has the potential to be awesome. I’ll be honest, Starbucks is not my favorite coffee. I prefer local, fresh roasts.  This is not to say I don’t drink more than my share of it. In most areas, they are pretty ubiquitous.  They offer free Wifi. And well, coffee snobbery aside, if I am doing a milk based drink, which I typically do at Starbucks – Well Milk is forgiving in terms of quality and freshness of the bean. OK but this is iOS Wednesday, not Coffee Sunday. So on to the App. As you can see below, you can check balances, reload your card, even check your rewards status. I don’t use this app often right now, mostly just to check the balance, or if I am traveling, to find the nearest location.  What I think will make this app awesome, which sadly I have yet to test is the payment feature (see bottom picture).  For now, at least in my area, it seems limited to Starbucks locations inside of Target Stores.  Sadly the Target closest to me, doesn’t even have a Starbucks inside.  Right now I keep money on two cards, one in my wallet and one on my key chain, though apparently I need to recharge my key-chain card.  I would happily slim down my wallet and key-chain for the option of scanning a bar-code on my phone, something I carry always and anyway…
