First official reading of Egret the Elephant at a local preschool

I had three readings today at a local pre-school. I think it went well. The 2 year olds were a bit antsy and focused more on the pictures. But I asked some questions and they were able to answer them so they were at least following the story. We weren’t able to get to the last story as the next class arrived.  The 3 year olds were the second group. Elijah was in that one, and seemed to be beaming with pride that I was there reading my book. It went well but they asked lots of questions about the stories, so again I ran late and wasn’t able to catch up and read the last story. With the 4 year olds I managed to get through the whole book.  They had as many questions as the three’s class but they were different types of questions. Several wanted to know how the book was physically made. Others wanted to know how I came up with the ideas and even a couple wanted to know if their would be more Egret stories.

I wasn’t as nervous as I though I would be, maybe it is the former teacher in me…  My favorite part was when two different students told me that had the book at home – That made my day.

I have my first book signing this Sunday, November 11. So I guess I will have to do some more reading. There I am more worried I will sit around for 4 hours twiddling my thumbs. So please feel free to stop by and bring your kids. It will be at the Cabin John Mall Atrium, In Potomac, MD, between 1-5pm on Sunday November 11th
