I know I have been quiet for the last few day but I have been traveling for the day job, I have been in Mississippi conducting some training. My last post was about the marriage equality bill in Maryland. I am happy to say it passed and was a huge step forwards for civil rights. Monday I had a book reading the Beth Sholom ECC; actually three of them. I think they went pretty well, especially for my first official reading. Sunday is of course my first book signing.
The event is in the cabin John Mall Atrium from 1-5 on this Sunday. I was more nervous about this then the book reading. I am sure it will go fine though. I am actually doing my second reading today at Beverly Farms Elementary School.
So far no luck on the day job search. For those who don’t know my job was technically eliminated at the end of August. My EVP went to the powers that be and said she really needed me for awhile, and no I have no idea what awhile means. But in the mean time I got cut to three days a week and my pay took a significant hit. I was able to retain my benefits which is a blessing. I have been looking hard but haven’t had anything more than phone interviews. The problem is most of the jobs out there have been for generalist type positions where the pay is at or less than I am making part-time now. Then there are a few EVP and Chief HR positions out there. While I could do the job, with the economy being where it’s at, I can’t compete with the competition. I’m looking for a Senior Manager, Director, or VP level position, the DCMetro are. If you know of anything, please let me know.
I hope to see you Sunday at the signing. If you not able to make the signing and still want an autographed copy feel free to email me at corey@coreyjf.com and we can work something out.

I’m sure you are doing everything you can in regards to your job. The thing that helped Doug the most when he was laid off was networking. Making sure everyone he knew knew he was looking. Connecting on linkedin and having people put in good words for him when he applied. Also, I’m sure you have thought of this but what about a headhunter?
Good luck, and I’ll continue to keep my eye out for you.
