Senior Credentialing Specialist – Corporate Office – Springfield, VA – 3668324

join-cra-still

As you know if you have been reading me for awhile, even with the fortunate success I have been having with my writing career, I still and likely always will have a day job. Also if you have been reading me for awhile you know I rarely blog about HR, and when I do it is in a very limited and general fashion. And of course I never talk about my current job of 9 1/2 years. Wow, that is a long time to make a Potomac, Md to Springfield VA commute. Anyway I decided to break this rule in aid of our company. We have an immediate need for a Senior Credentialing Specialist. If you meet the qualifications , or know someone who might, please pass this along.

Things that happened in Real life:

My position that was reduced to part-time was just brought back to full-time, which is good since my last two interviews canceled out on me right beforehand.

A bunch of confidential HR stuff.

A bunch of mundane boring HR stuff that is of no interest to anyone.

Had a really yummy lunch that I am grateful to Melissa for making me.

Realized researching practical Kabbalah is way harder than I thought.

Things that happened in Fiction:

Alex argues with her father again about her career path. He once again offers her a job at his law firm. Blah Blah Blah Double Hoya Blah Georgetown law Blah waste of a degree. Blah Blah Blah happy as a detective on the police force. Blah Blah Blah

Alex draws the image her grandfather showed her in her dream, layering it one angled Hebrew letter at a time to form an unrecognizable glyph. Unfamiliar with the word that made up the glyph, Alex Googles it only to find it is the name of an Angel. Curiosity peaked she takes the drawling with her.

Life and general updates, Book Singing, and Readings

I know I have been quiet for the last few day but I have been traveling for the day job, I have been in Mississippi conducting some training.  My last post was about the marriage equality bill in Maryland. I am happy to say it passed and was a huge step forwards for civil rights. Monday I had a book reading the Beth Sholom ECC; actually three of them. I think they went pretty well, especially for my first official reading. Sunday is of course my first book signing.

The event is in the cabin John Mall Atrium from 1-5 on this Sunday.  I was more nervous about this then the book reading.  I am sure it will go fine though.  I am actually doing my second reading today at Beverly Farms Elementary School.

So far no luck on the day job search. For those who don’t know my job was technically eliminated at the end of August. My EVP went to the powers that be and said she really needed me for awhile, and no I have no idea what awhile means. But in the mean time I got cut to three days a week and my pay took a significant hit.  I was able to retain my benefits which is a blessing.  I have been looking hard but haven’t had anything more than phone interviews.  The problem is most of the jobs out there have been for generalist type positions where the pay is at or less than I am making part-time now.  Then there are a few EVP and Chief HR positions out there. While I could do the job, with the economy being where it’s at, I can’t compete with the competition. I’m looking for a Senior Manager, Director, or VP level position, the DCMetro are. If you know of anything, please let me know.

I hope to see you Sunday at the signing. If you not able to make the signing and still want an autographed copy feel free to email me at corey@coreyjf.com and we can work something out.
